Who are the youth that Open Doors Academy serves?
Who are the youth that Open Doors Academy serves? Currently, we serve over 350 youth and their families in Greater Cleveland. Programming begins in middle school and continues through high school. Demographically, 83% are African-American, 6% Multi-racial, 8% Caucasian and 3% other. 93% of our youth live 200%+ below poverty. The average student earns a 1.8 GPA upon entering ODA. In addition 83% will be the first member of their family to attend college.

Do your parents have any requirements?
Yes, we believe it is critical that the parent engage with their children in order for our work to be successful. Each family is required to put "skin in the game" through a financial contribution that is based on a sliding fee scale. In addition, our parents are required to attend a number of family events and parent education workshops throughout the year, chaperone field trips, or volunteer in the office.
Do you receive any financial support from the government?
We do receive grants funded through government programs. These grants make up approximately 64% of our annual budget.
Can I make a donation online?
Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so your gift will be tax-deductible. Online gifts can be securely processed here
What planned giving options are available?

What if I can’t make a financial contribution at this time? Are there other ways I can help Open Doors Academy?

Are you a United Way organization?
No, But you can still give through United Way. Fifty percent of a gift designated to Open Doors, Inc. will go to ODA, 50% will go to United Way member organizations.
