Heather Gaughan joined ODA in June of 2017 as Director of Human Resources. Ms. Gaughan started her Human Resources career with a staffing firm in 2006 after earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kent State. Her interest in organizational psychology led her to pursue her master’s in Human Resources, which she obtained from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University in 2012. While completing her master’s degree, she held positions within OSU’s College of Medicine and College of Engineering.
Upon graduation from OSU, Heather accepted the role of Director of Human Resources with a Cleveland-based healthcare company. Nearly three years later, she left that position to fulfill a dream she’d had for nearly a decade by serving in the Peace Corps. Heather accepted an assignment with the Peace Corps Response program as an HR Specialist in Micronesia, where she worked with state government officials and employees on HR skills capacity building. After completing her service, Heather was determined to find a position that combined her passions for poverty alleviation and lifelong learning, and is thrilled to have found such a great match with ODA.
Heather could not be more proud of the work that ODA is doing with providing opportunities for Cleveland’s youth to reach their full potential, and she looks forward to helping the organization do the same for its staff. In her spare time, Heather enjoys travel & learning about other cultures, live music, and exploring her hometown, Cleveland.
