Family Programming

Open Doors is grounded in the belief that it takes a community to raise a child.  Therefore, parents are required to actively participate in programming, including volunteering, parent education classes/workshops, and family events. Annually parents commit between 16 hours and 35 hours  to the organization.   Parent Education Workshops are conducted by Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland and local community speakers.  Issues addressed incorporate an understanding of the various needs of adolescents (sexual health, nutrition and fitness, destructive behaviors, etc.).  Workshops are also provided on topics related to supporting your child’s education, communicating with your children, and understanding resiliency in youth.  Family events are held throughout the year, in an effort to bring the family back to the table and to enjoy the support of a community environment.
