Jerod Johnson, Mentoring Coach

Jerod Johnson whom some may know as Jay-Rod, has been working with youth for the past 10+ years. He has worked with inner city at risk youth, youth in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and youth in the Cuyahoga County foster care system. While the populations of youth in which he has worked varies, his passion for working with youth remains unchanged. He is currently a part-time student on course to fulfilling his desire of becoming a Social Worker. He works at the Open Doors site located in Cleveland at Miles Park Elementary School which is right in the neighborhood in which he grew up and spent most of his adult life. Although he recently moved away, he is thrilled to be back in the neighborhood that he calls home. Jerod feels that he is a kid at heart and this is what helps him to relate to and work so well with the kids. For him, Open Doors means many things: being able to do what he loves, giving back to his community, and being in the company of great people are
just to name a few. His goal for working here is to make a positive, memorable impact on the organization that will somehow help in the upward mobility of the students. At the same time, he wants to learn something positive from every staff member, parent, and youth that will ultimately contribute towards him bettering himself as a mentoring coach, parent and individual as a whole.
