Kathryn Schnell graduated in 2008 from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences where she received her Masters of Science in Social Administration and Certificate in Nonprofit Management.  Kathryn is a Cleveland native and has been working and interning at various nonprofit organizations including the Arrupe Neighborhood Partnership, City Year Cleveland (Americorps), Hiram House, University Settlement, and America SCORES Cleveland since graduating from Xavier University in 2005.    In 2008, Katie served as a Program Director for Open Doors Academy, and now takes on the new position of Development Associate.

Kathryn has a passion for and dedication to Cleveland’s youth and wholeheartedly believes in the philosophy that “It takes a village to raise a child.”  She feels that in order for today’s youth to be successful – families, community organizations, schools, neighbors and faith-based organizations need to be part of a collaborative and involved team.  Since becoming a member of the Open Doors staff, she has been continually inspired by the unique talents and abilities that each youth possesses.  In addition, she has also been touched by how the youth and staff members support and care for one another in difficult times.  Her hope for each Open Doors youth is to succeed in reaching their dreams and to continue to demonstrate love, caring, and compassion.
