Mr. Benjamin Singelyn has been teaching since 2009, holding a MA Education (TESOL) from the University of Southern California (2014), and a BA English and Philosophy from Baldwin Wallace College (2008).
Before joining ODA, Mr. Ben taught English Second Language (ESL) in South Korea from 2009-2013. Upon returning to Northeast Ohio, teaching ESL courses preparing international undergraduate and graduate students for university courses. From 2017 to 2020, he helped support high school students from a variety of nations earn high school diplomas by developing curriculum that supported both language development and core subject area knowledge.
As a Classroom Coordinator, Mr. Ben strives for a learning environment that enables students to be active creators in the learning process, and not just containers to fill with knowledge. Through a student-centered classroom environment, he hopes to empower scholars as life-long learners, and grow as caring and compassionate members of their communities.
