Danielle Evans joined Open Doors Academy in 2020. She graduated high school from the Cleveland School of Science & Medicine at John Hay. She then started her journey studying Sociology and Business Administration at The Ohio State University in 2015. Her student research project was presented at the American Sociological Association focusing on HBCU recruitment & retention. She participated in many activities like Director of Diversity & Inclusion for the Student Activities Board and is a John Glenn Public Affairs NEW Leadership Graduate. While attending OSU, she assisted with after-school literacy programs at the Columbus Metropolitan Library Youth Department for scholars grades K-12.
These experiences led Danielle to her passion for promoting literacy and food education to help nurture empowered youth of all ages. Danielle is passionate about scholars learning foundations of self-care and wellness to create better habits for their future and support positive educational environments. Danielle is ready to return to in-person instruction with Breakthrough scholars and make this school year a great one!
When Danielle is not helping scholars, she enjoys cooking and making fresh juice for her family. She also enjoys reading science fiction and loves watching movies with her sisters.
