Joe Postwaite

Community Engagement and Alumni Manager

A Rochester New York native, Joseph Postwaite joined the Open Doors Academy staff in June 2017. Initially hired as an Assistant Coordinator, he has now transitioned into the role of Career Pathways Coordinator within the High School program. Prior to beginning his job at ODA, Mr. Postwaite served as the Director of the Bridges Program for the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, where he served 2,400 inner-city Cleveland students. In this role, Joe helped create a pathway to college or postsecondary education.
Joe is a graduate of Lake Erie College, where he majored in Education with a concentration in high school Biology. While at Lake Erie, Joe was involved in many extracurriculars, serving as a Resident Assistant, President of the Black Student Union, NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, and more notably Track and Field Captain. Joe holds 11 All – GLIAC Honors, 5 Conference Championship titles, 6 Division ll All-American awards and 1 National Championship title.
Joe has always had the drive and tenacity to help elevate others. From speaking engagements with the NAACP through volunteering at Baldwin Wallace University, Joe has always put the needs of others before himself. In his free time, Joe enjoys boating on Lake Erie and through the Flats, vacationing abroad, running, and learning about new cultures.
