Tamika Husain joined ODA in April 2019 as Middle School Program Manager. In this role, Ms. Husain is responsible for ensuring ODA’s middle school program is operating efficiently to ensure scholars are engaged and supported through ODA’s mission, vision and, identified goals. Among many other responsibilities, Tamika also provides guidance and training to campus coordinators and assistant coordinators to ensure staff needs are met and supported.
Some of Ms. Husain’s best memories were made at her beloved alma mater, Virginia State University, where she earned her Bachelors in Psychology. Tamika completed her Master’s in Education (with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction and a minor in Literacy) from Capella University June 2019. Because of her love for learning and strong desire for self- actualization, Tamika has plans to continue her professional development through a doctoral program in the near future.
Prior to joining ODA, Tamika served as lead trainer for the Carey Institute, providing early childhood training to educators throughout NE Ohio, and continues to provide professional development and training on a part-time basis. For 12 years, Tamika served as a child care licensing specialist for the State of Ohio where she monitored the day to day operations of licensed child care facilities ensuring compliance with state rules and regulations. In her first professional roll after graduation, Tamika taught 4thgrade in DC public schools and was the administrator of a before and after school enrichment program providing tutoring, family engagement, and out-of-school activities for children ages 3-13. Tamika has enjoyed every professional role throughout her 20+ years in education and is excited to serve in her role as Middle School Program Manager.
When not working or training or writing papers, Tamika loves spending time with her best accomplishments; her two beautiful daughters and spouse. Tamika has a deep love for family and unity and works hard to provide these things for them. She spends her free time, attending concerts, traveling, gardening, cooking, and tackling projects around the home. One of her favorite quotes is from the Bible: Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
