Toby Hills

Campus Coordinator

Toby Hills joined Open Doors Academy in the winter of 2022. Hailing from Toledo, Ohio, he ventured eastward to join the team as a program coordinator with the organization. He attended the University of Dayton, graduating with a BA in Sociology. During his time at school, he spent his summers traveling to the Luapula province of Zambia, where he taught English in rural middle schools and worked on clean water well-digging projects with local organizations. His time in Africa ignited a dedication for youth education and development.

Upon graduation from school, Toby began working as a fundraising coordinator for Children International, acquiring donors to sponsor children in pursuing education, food and water accessibility, and comprehensive healthcare benefits throughout sub-Saharan Africa and rural South America.

Soon thereafter, Toby traveled to South Korea where he worked as an ESL instructor with elementary and middle school students. His focus soon turned to out-of-classroom work as Toby transitioned to becoming an educational support specialist for students to ensure their progress to higher English proficiency levels. This is where Toby’s passion for educational support blossomed; he has brought this passion back to the US as he joins the ODA team.

In his free time, Toby enjoys cooking, writing, board games, and adventuring to new restaurants throughout the Cleveland area.
