Why Summer Camp? 

Summer enrichment is central to what Open Doors Academy is all about. Summer programs are 100% out-of-school time, and out-of-school programming is what we do best. More importantly, summer enrichment is proven to fight summer learning loss.

HOW TO ENROLL

Enrollment for currently enrolled ODA scholars and their siblings, as well as students enrolled in Breakthrough Public Schools, opens on March 14, 2024

Camp Enrollment Steps via Website

  • Click “Enroll” at the top left and log into your ODA account. (Current families must use your existing ODA account.)
  • Choose Summer Program and complete the application.  
  • To finalize your enrollment, follow the prompts to sign the Waiver and Program Policies Agreement.

TIMEFRAME

We offer 7 weeks of summer programming. Our camps are open Monday-Thursday.

  • Session 1: June 10 – July 3
  • Session 2: July 8 – July 25

Camp Closures:

  • Camp is closed on all Fridays.
  • During Session 1, we will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 (for Juneteenth), and Thursday, July 4 (for Independence Day).

Daily Schedule:

  • Camp opens at 8:00 AM at Monticello Middle School. Dismissal at Monticello Middle School occurs at 4:30 PM. 
  • For those riding the bus, buses load at each bus stop at 8:00 AM. Buses return to bus stops at 4:45 PM.

Finalized camp schedules will be released via email in May.

Elementary Summer Camp Talent Shows:

  • Session 1: Wednesday, July 3, 1:00 PM at Monticello Middle School
  • Session 2: Thursday, July 25, 1:00 PM at Monticello Middle School 

MEALS

All students are served breakfast and lunch daily. 

LOCATION

Our summer camp hub is located at Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights:

  • 3665 Monticello Blvd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44121

We also transport scholars by bus to various locations during camp. If you want to pick up your scholar early, please call ahead. Your child may not be located at Monticello Middle School until returning for dismissal. We can arrange early pickup from a field trip locations in an emergency. 

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is provided to students from the following schools to our hub location at Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights. Families must choose ONLY one (1) transportation option for the duration of the summer.

  • Citizens Academy Glenville
  • Citizens Academy Southeast
  • Euclid Middle School
  • E Prep / Village Prep Cliffs
  • E Prep / Village Prep Willard
  • E Prep / Village Prep Woodland Hills
  • Garrett Morgan High School

Any changes to transportation method must be made by May 31.

COST

Our camps are FREE to currently enrolled ODA scholars and their siblings. 

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is expected regularly during summer programs. Absences must be communicated to ODA staff. Because we do not want to deny the opportunity to attend to any waitlisted scholar, we may remove students from the summer camp roster if they do not attend.

SUMMER CAMP ORIENTATION

Attending orientation is optional, but strongly encouraged. ODA staff will host virtual and in-person summer camp orientation sessions to answer any questions from parents and families. Included in our presentation are answers to the following questions:

  • Daily schedule
  • Expectations at camp
  • What to bring to camp
  • What NOT to bring to camp
  • Medical accommodations
  • Absences
  • Early/Late arrivals
  • Early/Late pickups

The following orientation options are available:

  • Spanish ONLY: Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM via Zoom (in Spanish)
  • English ONLY: Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:30 PM via Zoom (in English)
  • Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at ODA Office, 1427 E. 36th St., Ste. 4206A, Cleveland, OH 44114
