Meet Eloise McCartney: Open Doors Academy 4th Grade School Scholar at Firelands Elementary School

Meet Eloise McCartney, a multi-talented 4th grader at Firelands Elementary School who has been making the most of her first year with ODA. Eloise, an avid reader and budding writer, is already mastering the art of the four-paragraph essay in her class and enjoys immersing herself in chapter books during her downtime. Her love for reading extends beyond the classroom, where she often curls up with a book at ODA during quieter moments.

Meet Eloise McCartney: Open Doors Academy 4th Grade School Scholar at Firelands Elementary School

Eloise’s enthusiasm for creativity shines through her favorite ODA crafts. From crafting tissue-paper snowflakes to painting cups and transforming them into gnomes, she treasures the hands-on activities that allow her to express her artistic side. “My favorite craft was turning a painted cup into a gnome,” Eloise shared. “It was so cute and fun, and now it’s sitting on a table at home!”

Beyond her creative endeavors, Eloise is also an athlete with a passion for running, track, cross country, speed skating, and wrestling. While she dreams of becoming a professional runner or wrestler, her aspirations don’t stop there—Eloise is also fascinated by detective work. Inspired by books about police and FBI agents, she envisions a future where she can serve in the military before pursuing a career in law enforcement or detective work.

Eloise describes her time at ODA as a place where she can connect with peers from different grades, explore her interests, and enjoy outdoor play when the weather permits. She values the opportunities ODA provides and wholeheartedly recommends it to other students. “ODA is fun because you get to meet new people, do cool crafts, and even play outside when it’s warmer,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity to try new things.”

Through her creativity, ambition, and enthusiasm for learning, Eloise embodies the spirit of ODA’s mission to protect, inspire, nurture, and challenge youth to reach their full potential. We are thrilled to support Eloise on her journey and can’t wait to see all the incredible things she will achieve.
