At ODA, we believe in the transformative power of relationships. To inspire youth to reach their full potential and better serve the scholars and families in our programs, we are committed to building trust, fostering connections, and cultivating impactful partnerships.

Like all our staff, Cece Schoenfeld puts kids first and understands the importance of building strong relationships with scholars. With her student-centered mindset, she grew ODA’s program at Max S. Hayes High School from 19 scholars at the beginning of the year to 62 scholars by December.

Through developing an understanding of the unique needs of each scholar, engaging activities, and consistent encouragement, Cece established a welcoming environment where students felt valued and supported. Her approach demonstrated the profound impact that strong, genuine relationships can have on students' lives.

For Cece, her connection to ODA runs deeper than her professional role as Max S. Hayes High School’s ODA Campus Coordinator—it's personal. As a parent of an ODA scholar at another program, she has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of ODA’s programs. “ODA is a special place. It has been a game-changer for my family,” Cece shared. “Even before I became part of the team, ODA was already making a difference in my life and my son’s life. From the afterschool program that helped him grow academically and socially to the summer camp experience that now benefits my younger son as well, the impact ODA makes in young lives is transformative. That’s why I wanted to come be a part of it.”

Cece’s success at Max Hayes reflects ODA’s mission to protect, inspire, nurture, and challenge youth. Our programs are designed to extend beyond academics and afterschool activities to create lasting connections that empower scholars to thrive. The vibrant community at Max S. Hayes High School today highlights the power of relationships in action. When young people feel seen, heard, and valued, they flourish. That’s the ODA difference—and it’s the heart of everything we do.
