As the 2024-2025 school year ended, ODA families, staff, and board members came together for the Hunger Network’s 37th Annual Walk for Hunger & 5k Run. The 30 members of Team Open Doors Academy showed a shared purpose: bringing hunger relief to those who need it most.
Food insecurity affects many scholars and families in our community. At the walk, families, staff, and board members came together to raise awareness and take action on an issue that touches daily lives.
Daa’iyah Rahman, ODA’s Engagement Manager and a member of the Hunger Network’s Associate Board, reflected on the experience: “It felt so good doing service together as a community,” she shared. “It was inspiring to see our board, families, and staff all in one place supporting a cause that directly impacts the families we work with.”
While the walk lasted only a few hours, the impact will be long-lasting. The moment was a reminder to us all that food security is an essential building block for vibrant and successful communities.
