“If you’re planning a career in law, you better make sure you have strong reading and writing skills.”
The beautiful offices on Main Avenue in downtown Cleveland definitely made an impression, but the message about reading and writing is what our scholars will remember most clearly.
Our high school scholars asked thoughtful questions about what it’s like to work in the legal field. They discovered how attorneys use basic reading, writing, and communication skills every day to better understand their clients, cases, and how to work together effectively as a team.
Attorneys explained to our scholars why every word matters when working in the legal field. A single phrase or word can change the entire outcome of a case, which is why careful reading of legal documents and thorough research are crucial parts of the job. Paying attention to detail and articulating your thoughts as effectively as possible is at the heart of everything they do.
The Tucker Ellis attorneys also shared stories about their educational paths, from college to law school, and the previous career experiences that shaped them. Scholars learned how they got to where they are today.
Thank you, Tucker Ellis, for opening your doors, sharing your stories, and showing our scholars what’s possible.
