College visits help make the future feel real. They give scholars a chance to picture themselves on a campus, ask honest questions, and take in the day-to-day details that can’t be captured in a brochure or online.
Last month, our high school scholars traveled to Athens, Ohio, where they stepped into residence halls, shared a meal in the dining hall, and navigated campus alongside current Ohio University students.
Scholars from Max S. Hayes High School, Garrett Morgan School of Engineering & Innovation, and Cleveland Heights High School spent the day exploring Ohio University, moving through spaces where students live, study, and hang out. From the student center to the aquatics center, each stop offered a closer look at daily life on campus.
Current OU students led the way, answering questions about classes, housing, the application process, and what it’s really like to be a college student. Conversations continued over lunch, where scholars experienced a typical day in the life as a Bobcat.
One highlight was exploring the college town of Athens and learning how the university’s Appalachian setting shapes campus culture and community. Scholars asked thoughtful questions, made meaningful connections, and walked away with a stronger sense of what it means to live and learn at a university.
Thank you to Ohio University for welcoming our scholars and opening the door to new possibilities for their futures.
