We Respect Your Privacy

Open Doors Academy (“ODA”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects the privacy of its students (“scholars”), families, partners, funders, supporters, and every individual who accesses our digital tools. We value your trust and confidence in us and we want to assure you that we keep your personal information confidential.  

This Privacy Policy outlines the information we collect when you utilize our website, content management system, or other digital services (together, “our Service”) and how we use the information. By using our Service, you consent to our Privacy Policy. 

Information We Collect

You may voluntarily provide information about yourself and others to ODA when using our Service. This may include information such as name, address, contact information, educational information, employment information, billing information, payment information, or additional information you choose to provide to us. For example, we may collect this information when you submit forms through our Service, request a resource, donate to ODA, register for events, send us an inquiry, refer a family to ODA, or provide alumni information.  

You may choose to provide information about ODA students, prospective students, and other individuals applying to or registering for our programs, such as names, ages, genders, birth dates, addresses, contact information, and educational information. We may also receive information about students or prospective students from third parties and combine that information with other personal information that we collect. For example, when a school district official recommends a student join an ODA program, they may provide certain contact information. 

In addition to the above, we automatically collect certain technical information during the use of our Service. Please see the “Digital Advertising & Analytics” section of this privacy policy to learn more about the use of this information and the choices available to you. 

Information Use

We may use information we collect for any lawful purpose. These purposes include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • To provide ODA’s services, including to process applications for registration; 
  • To respond to your inquiries and requests;  
  • To fundraise and process financial donations; 
  • To communicate with website visitors, students, parents, applicants, alumni, and others; 
  • To provide updates, surveys, and other content that may be of interest to you; 
  • For business purposes, such as analytics, research, advertising and marketing, payment processing, and operational purposes; 
  • To maintain, operate, customize, and improve our Service; 
  • To comply with state regulations under the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services; 
  • To comply with law enforcement and maintain the safety and security of ODA, our Service, our scholars and their families, and others; or 
  • As otherwise disclosed at the time of collection or use. 

Specific contact information for our scholars, families, supporters, or donors is not published or otherwise made generally available; it is only used for internal or programming purposes. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. We may disclose your information to trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving you. Please keep in mind that no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of such information. 


A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that allows the website to “remember” your preferences (such as calendar settings and site bookmarks) on the site from visit to visit, or to maintain your “logged in” status when visiting protected areas. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Web browsers have settings allowing you to reject cookies, or selectively accept cookies, or delete cookies previously accepted. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies from our website may make certain functions of our Service unavailable to you. 

Digital Advertising and Analytics

We may partner with ad networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) that serve ads on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated platforms. Some of those ads may be personalized, meaning that they are intended to be relevant to you based on information Advertising Providers collect about your use of our Service and other sites or apps over time, including information about relationships among different browsers and devices. This type of advertising is known as interest-based advertising. 

We may also work with third parties that collect data about your use of our Service for non-advertising purposes. ODA uses Google Analytics and other third-party services to improve the performance of our Service and for analytics and marketing purposes. Information monitored includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and keywords used to find our site via search engines. We do not combine the information collected using Google Analytics with any personally identifiable information.

Security of Stored Data

ODA takes every precaution to protect our users' personal information. Personally identifiable information is only accessible by certain qualified individuals who are responsible for providing requested services, or for responding to your inquiry.  

Whenever users submit personal information (such as contact information or identifying information) via online forms, registration, or online purchases, upon submission that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstances are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers. 

Third-Party Links and Tools

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our website and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information.  

Our Service may integrate with third-party web applications that we use to support a variety of functions. We may provide information to these integrated third-party web applications for the direct purposes this tool is designed to achieve, and the integrated applications may also collect information directly.   

Some parts of our Service may include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins,” such as social networking tools offered by third parties. If you use these tools to share personal information or you otherwise interact with social media features on our Service, those social media companies may collect information about you and may use and share such information in accordance with your account settings, including by sharing such information with the general public.   

Your interactions with third-party companies like those described in this section and your use of their features are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that provide those features. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. 

Children's Privacy

Protecting children’s privacy is imperative to us. The tools on our Service are intended for use by adults who are legal guardians of enrolled or prospective scholars.  

While we recognize that some tools may be useful to our scholars, such as the calendar, anyone under 18 years of age should seek permission from his or her parent or guardian prior to disclosing any personal information through this website.
